Lost in Translation: Transitioning from the UGMF to the WFAP _
PostSubject: Lost in Translation: Transitioning from the UGMF to the WFAP   Lost in Translation: Transitioning from the UGMF to the WFAP Icon_minitimeTue Sep 07, 2010 8:20 am

In the recent events that have followed, it has come to our attention that many have decided on putting Gaian and Briss, and even Aekean as spoken languages within these forums. We regret to inform you that these three are not languages, and one doesn't even exist in the world we created here.

The most Gaian and Aekean would amount to here are dialects, or silly accents the rest of the Arcand-speaking world (Our equivalent to the English-Speaking world) would find a bit humorous and outright silly. Aekeans will still be speaking Arcand, albeit with its own slang, it's own made up words for common household things, and the occasional mestizo word mixed with Arcand and Dessarian (Desert Serbians. Who knew?)

The Royal Regency of Briss does not exist in the Winged Fox world, nor do we intend on putting it in anytime soon. We have tried to combine both maps in the past, if you do or do not recall, and all efforts have either died away, outright failed, or the administration of the UGMF figured it best to shove the 23 Fox countries into a small corner while the few 7 they created dominated the rest of the world. Furthermore, when we moved out here, we have decided in our best interests to cut any and all ties with our former surrogate mother guild, with the exception of those we managed to bring along for the ride. The closest thing to the Royal Regency of Briss will be the Arcand Empire, and a history of the nation will be found in the world discussion forum.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this might cause you during your character's transition from the UGMF to the WFAP, but please remember to read any and all histories as well as the provided language chart in effect within the forum, and forget about the UGMF's world as a whole when RPing within this site.

We thank you for your cooperation, and hope you have a pleasant stay within the Winged Foxes new home, Sky Haven.

Addendum...

It has also come to our attention the amount of languages people are putting up. While this is a bit of an honor considering all the man hours we put in and the countless monkeys slaving away over typewriters that died to perfect this site, we do ask that the languages your characters know become reasonable, rather than having them end up a Jack of All Trades all the time.

The only reasonable way anyone would be able to know such linguistic prowess is if they were born and raised a merchant's son/daughter in Norune, who make it a mandatory thing to excel at mathematics, linguistics, and social sciences to make trading easier.

If you insist on having a lot of languages, we do ask you have a reasonable explanation on your profile on how your character learned them. Obviously they would be able to speak Arcand, as well as the language from their native soil.

Thank you, and once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Second Addendum

For profiles, please use your best judgment on this, and also remember what has been addressed in this thread. Copypasta profiles aren't gonna cut it anymore. We've done okay without the skeleton system, and I'm sure you are intelligent enough to realize this. You may feel free to browse other people's profiles so that you can figure out your character profile yourself.

Thank you, and yet again, we apologize for any inconvenience.
